The biggest problem with spending all your time growing your social media account and following is that you don’t own your social media accounts or followers.
It’s a similar problem with having a YouTube channel.
At any time the platform you have your social media account on, like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or even your YouTube channel by Google can be shadowbanned, blocked, or even deleted by the platform owners.
When this happens you will lose all your years of hard work building up your account followers and presence on that platform, you will lose all the content you’ve posted to your account, and you will lose all your audience.
This can sometimes happen overnight without any warning and can be an irreversible decision by these platform owners for one reason or the other including policy violations, your content being flagged, or even a recent change to their terms of use that now negatively affects your channel and the type of content you’ve posted to that point.
There is also the issue of organic reach decreasing overtime on every social media platform. For example, over time a lower percentage of your followers on Facebook and Instagram see your posts, your account grows more slowly, and you eventually have to pay to have all your followers see your posts.
With email marketing, there is no risk of these problems occurring.Â
When a prospect or lead agrees to join your email list you have a direct line of communication with that subscriber until they opt out of your list.Â
When you choose to send an email to your list it is completely free and your email will get delivered with as close to 100% delivery as possible.
The only problem is getting your subscribers to open your emails.
To help you with that we recommend you use welcome emails to introduce yourself and build a relationship with them the moment they signup, give them an idea of the value you will be providing to them every time you email them and tell them when to expect these emails from you.
Sending emails to your subscribers is completely free and you’re able to use your emails to generate leads for your business as well. Let’s learn more about that in the next section.
