The list of prospects might be sent Email 1 on Monday at 9 am.
If the prospect opens Email 1 and Clicks The Link then they will be sent Email 2 on Wednesday at noon which has an exclusive and discounted link to a product mentioned in email one.
If they don’t Open and Click Through Email 1 then they will be sent Email 3 Tuesday at 2 pm that will be recapping what they missed out on from Email 1.
Opening and Clicking Through Email 2 will add them to the list to be sent Email 3 on Wednesday.
If they don’t open and Click Through on Email 2 then they will not be sent the special, discounted offer on Wednesday at noon.
Based on the user opening email 1 or 2 they will be segmented and sent a different version of Email 3 on Wednesday – that is the essence and power of nurture campaigns.

Below is an example of an email drip campaign flow chart. This is how it will work:
An email, perhaps a welcome email, will be sent out on Day 1.
Subscribers who open the mail and choose to unsubscribe or opt-out will be removed from the list.
Subscribers who open the mail will be added to the list to receive the second email.
Subscribers who do not open the mail will be added to the list to receive a resend of the mail.
On the second day, we will again remove subscribers who decide that they would like to opt out of email notifications.
We will also again move email subscribers who opened the second mail to a list to receive the third mail.
Those who did not open mail 2 will again receive a resend of the second mail.
When we get to the third mail we will extend the drip or follow up with a phone call to those who did open the third mail.
We will continue to remove those subscribers who choose to opt-out.

You should only send commercial intent emails (emails where you want to make a sale) no more than 20% of the time and by sending one commercial intent email in a 2-step email sequence you might come off as too salesy.
Email subscribers expect deals and specials when they sign up but no one likes being sold to so be subtle about it or link helpful resources in this email then offer a product in email 3.
